To embrace the upcoming Data Privacy Day (didn’t know it’s been around for over 10 years already), Microsoft made a move that provides more transparency to all the data collected by Windows devices by releasing an app called Diagnostic Data Viewer, available to everyone in the Microsoft Store. Within the tool, you will be able to see and search all Windows diagnostic data that’s in the cloud related to your specific Windows 10 device.

Before you start downloading and using the app, open Settings app and go to Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback, and turn on Diagnostic data viewer option there. Note that the diagnostic data could take up to 1GB of your hard drive space.

Settings - Privacy - Diagnostics - turn on

Then click the Diagnostic Data Viewer button right below the switch. If this is the first time, it will take you to the tools page in Store app from where you can download and install the tool on your computer.

Microsoft Store - Diagnostic Data Viewer

Launch the Diagnostic Data Viewer app and here is what it looks like by default.

Click the hamburger icon in the left sidebar to reveal more filter options there. You can switch to only view the basic diagnostics data or select the categories you would like to see the data as well.

You can also launch the new Privacy Dashboard from the sidebar, which is a new place in your Microsoft Account Microsoft introduced lately to review and manage your activity data collected by all the Microsoft services you have been using.

To delete all diagnostic data associated with your device, there is a Delete button right in the Diagnostics & feedback Settings page. However, if you are using a Microsoft Account, there may be additional diagnostic data to delete through Microsoft Account portal.

If you are the member of Windows Inside Program you have the opportunities to explore all these new features in Windows 10 version 1709 build 17093.
